A Thai Smile Airbus A320-200, registration HS-TXQ performing flight WE-426 from Penang (Malaysia) to Bangkok (Thailand), was on approach to Bangkok descending through 5000 feet when the aircraft encountered unexpected severe turbulence causing injuries to two passengers and three cabin crew. The aircraft continued for a safe landing on Bangkok's runway 01L.

Thailand's CAA reported at least one of the injuries was serious, the aircraft did not sustain any damage. The occurrence was rated an accident and is being investigated by Thailands AIB.
