An Aer Lingus Airbus A320-200, registration EI-DEA performing flight EI-896 from Cork (Ireland) to Faro (Portugal), was enroute at FL360 over the Celtic Sea about 180nm south of Cork when the crew decided to turn around and divert to Dublin (Ireland) due to a hydraulic failure. On approach to Dublin the crew advised they would be able to vacate the runway and would stop on the adjacent taxiway and requested emergency services to check the brakes. The aircraft landed safely on Dublin's runway 28 about 80 minutes after departure from Cork, vacated the runway, advised operations were normal and stopped for the inspection by emergency services. Emergency services reported they could not observe any fluids leaking from the aircraft. The aircraft continued taxi to the apron, while taxiing an emergency vehicle reported they could see fluid leaking from the right hand engine (CFM56).

A replacement A320-200 registration EI-DEG is estimated to reach Faro with a delay of 4 hours.
