A SAT Airlines Boeing 737-500, registration RA-73013 performing flight HZ-111 from Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk (Russia) to Seoul (South Korea) with 85 passengers and 8 crew, was enroute about 45 minutes into the flight when the outer pane of the first officer's windshield cracked. The crew actioned the relevant checklists and returned to Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk for a safe landing.

The Far Eastern Transport Prosecution Office erroneously identified the flight as Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk to Sapporo (Japan) - no such flight was scheduled on Aug 18th - and opened an investigation into the occurrence.

Rosaviatsia (Russia's Civil Aviation Authority) reported flight HZ-111 to Seoul was about 45 minutes into the flight when the outer pane of the heated right hand windshield cracked.
