A Spring Airlines Airbus A320-200, registration B-6841 performing flight 9C-8921 from Shanghai Pudong to Hong Kong (China) with 173 people on board, was in the initial climb out of Shanghai when the an engine (CFM56) ingested a bird prompting the crew to shut the engine down and return to Pudong International Airport for a safe landing about 30 minutes after departure.

The flight was cancelled.
