An Egypt Air Boeing 737-800, registration SU-GDZ performing flight MS-748 from Athens (Greece) to Cairo (Egypt) with 103 people on board, was climbing through FL385 out of Athens when the crew decided to return to Athens. The aircraft landed safely back on runway 03R about 55 minutes after departure.

An observer on the ground reported fire engines received the aircraft and followed the aircraft to the apron.

Egypt's Air Force reported flight MS-748 returned due to a technical fault in the equipment used to prepare meals.
