A Tajik Air Boeing 737-300, registration EY-444 performing flight 7J-645 from Taraz (Kazakhstan) to Moscow Domodedovo (Russia) with 140 passengers, departed Taraz's runway 31 but burst a tyre on departure. Tyre fragments were found on the runway, the crew was informed and stopped the climb at FL220. The crew decided to return to their original departure airport Khujand (Tajikistan), entered a hold for to burn off fuel for about 3 hours, then performed a safe landing on Khujand's runway 26.

The flight was estimated to operate from Khujand to Moscow Domodedovo with a fuel stop in Taraz.

The airline reported the passengers were taken to hotels in Khujand over night and rebooked onto other flights the following day.
