A Skywest Canadair CRJ-700 on behalf of American Airlines, registration N776SK performing flight OO-3079/AA-3079 from Chicago O'Hare,IL to Salt Lake City,UT (USA), was climbing out of Chicago's runway 28R when the crew reported they needed to return to Chicago and requested a long vector for landing, they couldn't get their gear up. The aircraft positioned for an approach to runway 28C and landed safely about 20 minutes after departure.

A replacement CRJ-700 registration N727SK reached Salt Lake City with a delay of 3 hours.

The occurrence aircraft is still on the ground 23 hours after landing back.
