PAL A321 at Cebu on Dec 21st 2016, tail strike on landing

A PAL Philippine Airlines Airbus A321-200, registration RP-C9928 performing flight PR-1843 from Manila to Cebu (Philippines), landed on Cebu's runway 04 at 07:36L (23:36Z Dec 20th), however, the tail contacted the runway surface. The aircraft rolled out without further incident and taxied to the apron.

The aircraft suffered extensive scrape damage over several meters to the underside of the aft belly as well as structural damage. The aircraft is still on the ground in Cebu on Jan 18th 2017.

The Philippine's Civil Aviation Authority (CAAP) rated the occurrence an accident identifying substantial damage and opened an investigation.

According to ATDB the aircraft joined the fleet of Philippine Airlines on Oct 25th 2016 following the first flight on Oct 11th 2016 after manufacture.
