An Air Canada Boeing 767-300, registration C-GHOZ performing flight AC-737 from Toronto,ON (Canada) to San Francisco,CA (USA) with 217 people on board, was on approach to San Francisco when the crew aborted the approach at about 6000 feet reporting problems with the flaps. Consulting with maintenance and working the checklists the crew managed to extend the flaps to 20 degrees using the alternate system, declared emergency and performed a safe landing on runway 28L about 50 minutes after stopping the descent at 6000 feet.

The Canadian TSB reported the flaps mechanisms were inspected and lubricated according to maintenance manual, the aircraft however suffered a similiar occurrence the following day on arrival of the return flight into Toronto, see Incident: Canada B763 at Toronto on Dec 25th 2016, flaps problem.
