A Shaheen Airbus A330-200, registration AP-BML performing positioning flight NL-902D from Manchester,EN (UK) to Lahore (Pakistan) with just 10 crew, was descending towards Lahore when the crew received a fire indication for the right hand engine (CF6), shut the engine down and activated the fire suppression. The aircraft continued for a safe landing on Lahore's runway 36L.

Pakistan's Civil Aviation Authority reported the crew received an engine fire indication.

The aircraft had flown flight NL-901 to Manchester on Jan 3rd 2017, but then was unable to depart for the return flight. Aircraft and crew were positioning back to Pakistan, the regular flight NL-902 from Manchester to Islamabad (Pakistan) of Jan 7th 2017, A332 registration AP-BMK, landed normally in Islamabad about 35 minutes prior to AP-BML's landing in Lahore.
