A Jazz de Havilland Dash 8-400, registration C-GJZD performing flight QK-8640 from London,ON to Toronto,ON (Canada) with 57 people on board, was taxiing for departure from runway 27 via taxiway A in strong winds and poor visibility at about 06:10L (11:10Z). The aircraft was cleared to backtrack the runway and line up and wait. While taxiing onto the runway the captain mistook the runway edge lights at the far side as the ones at the near side, taxied across the entire runway width before turning into the runway direction. When the nose wheel got stuck in snow, the captain realized the aircraft's position and stopped, the main gear was still on the paved surface. The passengers disembarked onto the runway and were taken back to the terminal.

The Canadian TSB reported the aircraft became stuck but did not receive any damage.
