A Kenya Airways Boeing 787-800, registration 5Y-KZB performing flight KQ-112 from Nairobi (Kenya) to Paris Charles de Gaulle (France), was climbing through FL330 about 130nm north of Nairobi, near Mount Kenya, when the crew initiated a rapid descent to FL180 due to problems with the cabin pressure (Mount Kenya rises to 5199 meters/17,030 feet) causing the passenger oxygen masks to be released. After turning around and being clear of Mount Kenya the aircraft descended to FL150 and descended to FL100 about 60nm north of Nairobi. The aircraft landed safely back in Nairobi about 35 minutes after leaving FL330.

A replacement Boeing 787-800 registration 5Y-KZC reached Paris with a delay of 13 hours.

The airline reported the aircraft returned to Nairobi as a precaution after the passenger oxygen masks deployed.
