A Wings Abadi Avions de Transport Regional ATR-72-212A, registration PK-WGW performing flight IW-1896 from Bandung to Semarang (Indonesia) with 64 passengers and 4 crew, landed on Semarang's runway 13 in rain at about 18:24L (11:24Z), but veered right off the runway and came to a stop with the right main gear collapsed. There were no injuries, the aircraft sustained substantial damage.

The airport reported the aircraft slipped due to the wet runway.

On Jan 12th 2017 Indonesia's NTSC reported the aircraft landed on runway 13 and bounced. The right main gear folded inwards causing the aircraft to veer right. The aircraft stopped on the right runway edge near taxiway D. The occurrence was rated an accident and is being investigated by the NTSC (aka KNKT).

On Jan 25th 2017 the KNKT released their preliminary report reporting that the aircraft performed a RNAV approach to runway 13, winds were from 190 degrees at 15 knots. The captain (28, ATPL, 4,065 hours total, 3,805 hours on type) was pilot flying, the first officer (24, CPL, 3,300 hours total, 3,200 hours on type) pilot monitoring. Upon receiving the landing clearance the crew requested the runway lights' intensity to be reduced, tower complied and the crew confirmed the intensity was okay. The aircraft touched down, bounced twice, after the second bounce the crew attempted to go around, the aircraft however contacted the runway surface. Tower noticed the unusual attitude, the aircraft was tilted to the right and began to veer right, tower pressed the crash button alerting emergency services. After the aircraft came to a stop the crew kept the engines running to have cabin lighting available. After arrival of emergency services tower instructed the crew to shut the engines down, emergency services subsequently assisted in the evacuation of the aircraft, which was completed about 10 minutes after coming to a stop.

The flight data recorder showed that the third "touch down" produced a vertical acceleration of +5.306G.

The right hand main gear was found folded inwards, the tips of the right hand propeller were broken about 26cm from the tip. Several dents and damage was present on the right hand fuselage.

A first analysis of the right main gear strut showed no defects prior to touchdown, all systems of the aircraft were operating normally.
