A Delta Airlines Boeing 757-200, registration N546US performing flight DL-2215 from Seattle,WA to Honolulu,HI (USA), was enroute at FL340 over the Pacific Ocean about 80 minutes into the flight when the crew decided to return to Seattle reporting there had been smoke in the cabin. The aircraft landed safely back on Seattle's runway 16L and taxied to the apron.

A passenger reported that about one hour into the flight there was smoke in the cabin, all seats lost power and most of the cabin lighting went dark.

The occurrence aircraft was repaired (a generator control unit was replaced), departed again after about 4 hours on the ground and reached Honolulu with a delay of 6 hours.
