A Southwest Airlines Boeing 737-800, registration N8605E performing flight WN-105 from Chicago Midway,IL to Las Vegas,NV (USA) with 164 passengers and 6 crew, departed Midway Airport's runway 31C. Upon contacting departure the crew declared emergency advising they would like to level off at 3000 feet and requested an immediate return prompting ATC to pull a number of arriving aircraft off their approaches. The crew advised they believed they had ingested a bird due to vibrations (engines CFM56) and passenger reports, there was no smoke or odour inside the aircraft. The aircraft landed safely on runway 31C about 10 minutes after departure and taxied to the apron with emergency services in trail.

A replacement Boeing 737-800 registration N8325D is estimated to reach Las Vegas with a delay of 3.5 hours.
