A Lufthansa Airbus A320-200, registration D-AIZO performing flight LH-1403 from Prague (Czech Republic) to Frankfurt/Main (Germany), was accelerating for takeoff from runway 24 when the crew rejected takeoff at low speed reporting a bird strike on the left hand engine (CFM56). The aircraft slowed safely and returned to the apron, the crew advised they weren't sure whether the engine had received damage however recommended a runway inspection.

A passenger reported about 20 seconds into the takeoff run a loud bang was heard, the aircraft slowed rapidly. The aircraft subsequently taxied to a remote stand. About two hours later the aircraft was able to depart.

The occurrence aircraft departed 115 minutes after rejecting takeoff and reached Frankfurt with a delay of 105 minutes. In Frankfurt the aircraft remained on the ground for 4 hours, then returned to service.
