An Air France Boeing 777-300, registration F-GZNO performing flight AF-166 from Paris Charles de Gaulle (France) to Bangkok (Thailand), was enroute at FL310 about 60nm south of Munich (Germany) when the crew decided to return to Paris. The aircraft maintained FL310 on the way back to Paris and landed safely on Charles de Gaulle's runway 09R about 80 minutes after turning around.

A passenger reported the crew indicated a problem with one of the engines (GE90). The flight was postponed to the next day.

A replacement Boeing 777-300 registration F-GZNT reached Bangkok with a delay of 20 hours.
