A Swiss International Airlines Airbus A321-200, registration HB-IOO performing flight LX-1574 from Zurich (Switzerland) to Vienna (Austria) with 167 people on board, was climbing out of Zurich's runway 10 when the crew stopped the climb at FL190 after the right hand engine (CFM56) had emitted a bang. A runway inspection revealed no debris on the runway, the crew reported "absolutely normal operation" while returning to Zurich. The aircraft returned to Zurich for a safe landing on runway 14 about 25 minutes after departure.

A replacement A321-200 registration HB-IOD reached Vienna with a delay of 2 hours.

The airline reported the crew decided to return to Zurich after they heard a bang from the right hand engine even though the aircraft would have been capable of flying on one engine. The crew also received a fault indication from the right hand engine.
