A Lufthansa Cityline Canadair CRJ-900, registration D-ACNC performing flight LH-66 from Frankfurt/Main to Muenster (Germany), was on approach to Muenster when lightning struck the aircraft. The aircraft continued for a safe landing in Muenster.

A passenger reported there was a loud bang on approach to Muenster. Subsequently an entry mark was visible on the nose cone below the windshield and apparent exit marks at the tail plane of the aircraft.

The airport confirmed a lightning strike causing minor marks on the aircraft skin.

The occurrence aircraft remained on the ground in Muenster for 41 hours, then positioned to Frankfurt but has not yet resumed service about 51 hours after landing in Muenster.
