A Swiftair Boeing 737-400 on behalf of EAT Leipzig, registration EC-MAD performing flight QY-2939 from Shannon (Ireland) to Leipzig (Germany) with 3 crew, was in the initial climb out of Shannon's runway 24 when the crew reported they had lost "everything". The aircraft transponder continued to transmit positions however did not transmit any altitude information. About a minute later the crew reported they had lost all the instruments but were able to regain most of the instruments including compass and altimeters, nonetheless the crew declared Mayday. The crew levelled off at 2000 feet and positioned for a return to Shannon's runway 24 about 15 minutes after departure.

The occurrence aircraft remained on the ground for about 2 hours, then was able to depart again and is currently enroute at FL330 over the UK.
