An Azul Linhas Aereas Avions de Transport Regional ATR-72-212A, registration PR-ATJ performing flight AD-2533 from Ipatinga,MG to Belo Horizonte,MG (Brazil), was climbing out of Ipatinga's runway 05 when the crew stopped the climb at 5000 feet, shut down the right hand engine and returned to Ipatinga for a safe landing on runway 05 about 45 minutes after departure.

The airline reported the aircraft returned to Ipatinga due to a technical fault.

A passenger reported the right hand propeller stopped in flight. The crew subsequently explained there had been a loss of pressure on the right hand engine, the engine was shut down. They were now burning off fuel and return to Ipatinga.
