An ANA All Nippon Airways Boeing 787-900, registration JA886A performing delivery flight NH-9397 from Everett,WA (USA) to Tokyo Haneda (Japan), was enroute at FL400 about 390nm northwest of Everett when the crew needed to shut the right hand engine (Trent 1000) down. The aircraft drifted down to FL250 and returned to Everett for a safe landing about 2:10 hours after departure.

The aircraft departed again 25 hours after first departure and reached Tokyo.

On Nov 1st 2016 the Canadian TSB reported the right hand engine suffered vibrations prompting the crew to return to Everett.
