A Southwest Airlines Boeing 737-800, registration N8634A performing flight WN-2123 from Portland,OR to Kansas City,MO (USA), was accelerating for takeoff from Portland's runway 10L when the crew rejected takeoff at high speed. The aircraft vacated the runway at taxiway A3 about 1800 meters/5900 feet down the runway (measured from displaced threshold). The aircraft returned to the apron.

The FAA reported an engine (CFM56) sustained substantial damage as result of birdstrikes.

A replacement Boeing 737-700 registration N917WN reached Kansas City with a delay of 2 hours.
