A Medallion Air McDonnell Douglas MD-83 on behalf of SAMair, registration YR-HBE performing flight 9C-2011 from Taba (Egypt) to Kosice (Slovakia) with 156 people on board, did not receive all three greens for the landing gear while on approach to Kosice and aborted the approach. The aircraft subsequently performed a low approach to the airport to have the landing gear inspected from the ground, observers on the ground reported all gear appeared properly down. The aircraft landed safely about one hour after aborting the first approach.

The onward leg to Bratislava was cancelled, the passengers bound for Bratislava were bussed to their destination.
