An Egypt Air Boeing 737-800, registration SU-GDX performing flight MS-875 from Cairo (Egypt) to Lagos (Nigeria) with 86 passengers, was boarding when a fire alarm triggered for a cargo hold. The passengers were instructed to quickly deplane, however three passengers received injuries and were taken to a hospital.

The airline reported that fumigation of the cargo hold was still in progress during preparation for departure, the passengers were already on board, when a smoke detector activated. The captain instructed a rapid disembarkation as a precaution, however, passengers jostled each other resulting in a stampede during which 3 passengers received injuries.

A replacement Boeing 737-800 registration SU-GDC reached Lagos with a delay of 5:15 hours.

The occurrence aircraft was able to resume service about 14 hours after the fire alarm.
