An Expressjet Canadair CRJ-200 on behalf of Delta Airlines, registration N860AS performing EV-5583/DL-5583 from Chattanooga,TN to Atlanta,GA (USA), was in the initial climb out of Chattanooga's runway 20 when the crew reported a nose gear door had remained open and stopped the climb at 3000 feet. The aircraft returned to Chattanooga for a safe landing on runway 20 about 25 minutes after departure.

The aircraft remained on the ground for about 2.5 hours, then departed again and reached Atlanta with a delay of 3 hours.
