A China Eastern Airlines Boeing 737-700, registration B-5242 performing flight MU-5935 from Kunming to Dali (China), landed on Dali's runway 17 at about 15:58L (07:58Z) but overran the end of the runway coming to a stop with the nose gear off the paved surface of the runway end safety area. There were no injuries, the aircraft sustained minor if any damage.

No Metars are available, the local weather station reported light rain, winds from the east between 7 and 14 knots, visibility 4700 to 6000 meters, temperature 16 degrees C, dew point 15 degrees C.

Dali, located at 7050 feet MSL, offers a runway 17/35 of 2500 meters/8200 feet length, an ILS/DME approach has been published for runway 17.
