An Etihad Airways Boeing 777-300, registration A6-ETF performing flight EY-423 from Manila (Philippines) to Abu Dhabi (United Arab Emirates), was climbing out of Manila when the crew stopped the climb at FL260 reporting smoke in the cabin, requested vectors back to Manila and emergency services on standby. The aircraft dumped fuel on the way back and landed safely back on Manila's runway 24 about one hour after departure. Following landing the crew advised they could taxi to the apron, emergency services followed the aircraft to the stand.

The occurrence aircraft remained on the ground for about 3:10 hours, then departed again and reached Abu Dhabi with a delay of 4.5 hours.
