A Sunstate de Havilland Dash 8-400 on behalf of Qantas, registration VH-QOI performing flight QF-2340 from Brisbane,QL to Gladstone,QL (Australia) with 62 passengers and 4 crew, was on final approach to Gladstone's runway 10 at 15:47L (05:47Z) descending through about 1000 feet MSL about 3.2nm before touchdown at 130 knots over ground when a private Cirrus SR-22 registration VH-ZZD on a right base turned final runway 10 at 900 feet MSL about 2.7nm before the runway threshold at about 70 knots over ground. The Sunstate crew initiated an immediate go-around while the Cirrus continued for a safe landing. The Dash 8 performed a traffic circuit and landed safely on runway 10 on their second approach about 15 minutes later.

A passenger reported they were on final approach when the aircraft suddenly went around. The captain subsequently announced another traffic had turned into their way forcing them to go around.

Australia's TSB reported they have not yet received a report about the occurrence.

Gladstone Airport reported the Qantaslink (Sunstate) aircraft had to take evasive action because the light aircraft had infringed on their airspace, the matter has been reported to the ATSB.
