A Thomson Airways Boeing 737-800, registration G-FDZE performing flight BY-7352 from Birmingham,EN (UK) to Paphos (Cyprus), was in the initial climb out of Birmingham's runway 33 when the crew stopped the climb at 4000 feet suspecting a bird strike. The aircraft returned to Birmingham for a safe landing on runway 33 about 30 minutes after departure.

The occurrence aircraft remained on the ground for two hours, then departed again and reached Paphos with a delay of 2 hours.

Passengers reported they heard two loud bangs during initial climb and saw smoke from one of the engines (CFM56) as result of a bird strike.

The airport confirmed a bird strike prompted the aircraft to return to Birmingham.

The airline reported the aircraft returned to Birmingham due to a suspected bird strike. The aircraft underwent a routine inspection.
