A Southwest Airlines Boeing 737-300, registration N359SW performing flight WN-3153 from San Antonio,TX to El Paso,TX (USA), was on approach to El Paso when passengers and cabin crew smelled fumes on board, similiar to smell of smoke. The flight crew requested emergency services on stand by for the arrival and continued the approach for a safe landing. Emergency services checked the aircraft after landing but did not find any trace of fire, heat or smoke. A flight attendant was taken to a hospital with symptoms similiar to smoke inhalation but was discharged from hospital after checks.

Cabin crew reported they suspected an equipment cooling fan as source of the fumes.

The airline reported they are still investigating what caused the odour on board.
