The aircraft was enroute at FL360 about 350nm southwest of Tokyo about one hour into the flight when the crew received information confirming a bird strike and decided to return to Tokyo to have the aircraft inspected for possible damage. The aircraft landed safely on Narita's runway 16L about 2:20 hours after departure.

Following checks revealing no damage the aircraft was able to depart again about 90 minutes after landing and reached Okinawa with a delay of about 4 hours.
