A Volaris Airbus A320-200, registration XA-VOM performing flight Y4-750 from Mexico City to Mexicali (Mexico) with 171 people on board, was enroute near Morelia when a smell of fuel developed on board and the crew told ATC they suspected a fuel leak at the left hand systems. The aircraft diverted to Morelia for a safe landing.

Following repairs the aircraft was able to continue and reached Mexicali, Bajas Calfornia, with a delay of about 4 hours.

Mexico's Ministry of Transport reported a fuel transfer valve had failed.
