A Vueling Airbus A320-200, registration EC-MER performing flight VY-8549 from Helsinki (Finland) to Barcelona,SP (Spain), was enroute at FL380 about to enter Czech Airspace when the crew did not report on Czech Air Traffic Control frequencies around 18:47L (16:47Z). Calls to the aircraft on emergency freqency also remained unsuccessful. Two Czech Gripen fighter aircraft were dispatched to intercept the aircraft, after reaching the A320 there was still no response until about 3 minutes later, when communication was established on emergency frequency first, the crew of the A320 reporting they had difficulties contacting the next sector (no related loss of communication transponder code had been transmitted). After being told the correct frequency for Praha Control communication with Praha Control was established about 15 minutes after the aircraft entered Czech Airspace. The aircraft was soon handed off to Rhein Radar and continued to Barcelona for a safe landing about 2 hours later.

The aircraft continued its schedule on time.
