A Delta Airlines Boeing 757-200, registration N624AG performing flight DL-96 from Pittsburgh,PA (USA) to Paris Charles de Gaulle (France), was enroute at FL350 about 190nm northwest of New York JFK,NY (USA) when the crew decided to divert to New York JFK due to a fuel contamination issue. On final the crew advised they most likely would not need the emergency services, they did have a fuel contamination issue but everything was working and as of current even the indication had ceased. The aircraft landed safely on JFK's runway 31L about 40 minutes after the decision to divert.

The occurrence aircraft remained on the ground for about 2 hours, then continued the flight and reached Paris with a delay of 3 hours.

The airline reported a fuel filter light activated prompting the crew to divert to New York. The issue was corrected in about 2 hours.
