A Delta Airlines Boeing 737-900, registration N830DN performing flight DL-2421 from Phoenix,AZ to Salt Lake City,UT (USA), was on approach to Salt Lake City's runway 16R when the aircraft received a lightning strike. The crew continued for a safe landing on runway 16R.

The FAA reported the aircraft received minor damage to the nose cone as result of the lightning strike.

The aircraft resumed service about 3 hours after landing.
