Delta B764 over Greece on May 19th 2016, loss of communication leads to intercept

A Delta Airlines Boeing 767-400 on behalf of US Transportation Command, registration N836MH performing flight DL-8957 (Callsign CMB-542) from Frankfurt Hahn (Germany) to Kuwait (Kuwait), was enroute at FL330 about 70nm southsoutheast of Tirana (Albania) about to enter Greek Airspace at 19:10L (16:10Z) when the crew did not establish contact with Greek Air Traffic Control. As result two Greek F-16 fighter aircraft were scrambled and departed their airbase at 19:28L intercepting the Boeing about 20 minutes later about 25nm southeast of Santorini (Greece), the crew of the Boeing finally reacted and communication was restored at about 19:50L. The Boeing 767 continued their flight to Kuwait for a safe landing, the F-16s returned to their base without incident.

The airline reported that while transiting through Greek Airspace flight DL-8957 on a charter flight from Frankfurt Hahn to Kuwait was unable to establish radio contact with Greek ATC for a short period of time following a hand off to Greek ATC.
