A THY Turkish Airlines Boeing 737-900, registration TC-JYJ performing flight TK-604 from Dar Es Salaam (Tanzania) to Istanbul (Turkey), was on approach to Istanbul when the crew stopped the descent at 4000 feet and entered a holding reporting a problem with the flaps. The crew worked the related checklists and landed safely on Ataturk Airport's runway 35R at a rather normal speed about 35 minutes after stopping the descent.

The occurrence aircraft remained on the ground for 4.5 hours, then resumed service.
