An American Airlines Boeing 737-800, registration N906NN performing flight AA-1427 from Dallas Ft. Worth,TX to Atlanta,GA (USA), was on final approach to Atlanta's runway 26R descending through 1600 feet MSL, when the crew initiated a go around due to the flaps not moving from 25 to 30 degrees when selected. During the go around, while retracting the flaps, the flaps again did not move but remained in position 25 degrees. The crew worked the related checklists, positioned for another approach and landed safely on Atlanta's runway 26R about 15 minutes after the go around.

Maintenance found the right hand flaps position sensor was defective and replaced the sensor.
