A Swiss Airbus A340-300, registration HB-JME performing flight LX-41 (dep May 10th) from Los Angeles,CA (USA) to Zurich (Switzerland), was descending towards Zurich when the crew advised they had a hydraulic failure and requested runway 16 as well as emergency services on stand by for the landing further advising that nose gear steering etc. were okay. The aircraft landed safely on Zurich's runway 16, vacated the runway, advised that everything was fine and no further assistance was needed, and taxied to the apron.

The occurrence aircraft remained on the ground for 7 hours, then departed to Sao Paulo, SP (Brazil).
