A Singapore Airlines Airbus A330-300, registration 9V-STU performing flight SQ-958 from Singapore (Singapore) to Jakarta (Indonesia) with 113 passengers and 12 crew, was enroute at FL410 about 200nm southsoutheast of Singapore when the passenger oxygen masks were released without obvious reason. The crew performed a normal descent to FL200, turned around and returned to Singapore for a safe landing about 50 minutes after the oxygen masks came down.

The flight was cancelled.

The airline reported there was no loss of cabin pressure.

The occurrence aircraft is still on the ground 38 hours after landing.
