A Golden Myanmar Airlines Avions de Transport Regional ATR-72-212A, registration XY-AJS performing flight Y5-101 from Yangon to Nyaung-u (Myanmar), had lined up runway 03 at taxiway B (about 900 meters/2950 feet) down the runway and was accelerating for takeoff from Yangon's runway 03 when the crew rejected takeoff at high speed due to a right hand engine (PW127) overtemperature indication. The aircraft vacated the runway onto the last exit (taxiway A) where occupants rapidly disembarked. One passenger received a minor injury as result of the rapid disembarkation.

The airline initially stated a burst tyre caused the rejected takeoff but subsequently confirmed the aircraft rejected takeoff due to a right hand engine temperature indication exceeding limits explaining the smoke had initially been observed in the area of the left main gear. The aircraft subsequently vacated the runway onto a taxiway, one passenger received a minor injury in the rapid disembarkation.
