A UPS Boeing 747-400 freighter, registration N581UP performing flight 5X-2 from Cologne (Germany) to Hong Kong (China) with 3 crew, was climbing out of Cologne's runway 14L when the crew stopped the climb at FL140 reporting they had needed to shut the #2 engine (CF6, inboard left) down. The aircraft dumped fuel and returned to Cologne for a safe landing on runway 14L about 80 minutes after departure.

The occurrence aircraft is still on the ground 16 hours after landing.
