A Delta Airlines Boeing 737-900, registration N824DN performing flight DL-2285 from New York La Guardia,NY to Orlando,FL (USA) with 181 people on board, was enroute at FL340 about 70nm southeast of Baltimore,MD (USA) when the crew reported a cargo smoke indication and decided to divert to Baltimore, querying on approach whether emergency services were already on stand by for examination of the aircraft. The aircraft landed safely on Baltimore's runway 28 about 15 minutes later. Emergency Services did not detect any trace for fire, heat or smoke.

The aircraft remained on the ground for about 5 hours, then continued to Orlando reaching the destination with a delay of 5.5 hours.
