Germanwings A319 near Stuttgart on May 12th 2012, first officer partially incapacitated by laser

A Germanwings Airbus A319-100, registration D-AKNL performing flight 4U-2853 from Lamezia-Terme (Italy) to Stuttgart (Germany), was approaching Stuttgart descending through about 5000 feet about to intercept final approach when the first officer was looking out of the left aft cockpit window and a green laser beam hit his left eye. The first officer could no longer unrestrictedly fulfill his duties as pilot monitoring. The aircraft continued for a safe landing on Stuttgart's runway 25 about 5 minutes later.

Germany's BFU reported in their monthly bulletin the first officer received minor injuries to his left eye, was treated in a hospital and was unable to fly for a number of days.
