An Avianca Airbus A320-200, registration N567AV performing flight AV-28 from Bogota (Colombia) to Orlando,FL (USA) with 149 people on board, departed Bogota's runway 13L but burst a main tyre on departure. The crew, having heard an unusual noise from the landing gear, stopped the climb at FL210, burned off fuel for about 2 hours and returned to Bogota for a safe landing on runway 13R about 2:50 hours after departure.

A replacement A320-200 registration N538AV reached Orlando with a delay of 4.5 hours.

The airline confirmed a post flight inspection revealed a tyre had burst indeed.

The occurrence aircraft is still on the ground about 48 hours after landing.
