A SBA Airlines Boeing 757-200, registration YV304T performing flight S3-1515 from Caracas (Venezuela) to Miami,FL (USA) with 192 passengers and 6 crew, was enroute about 100nm south of Santo Domingo (Dominican Republic) when the crew needed to shut the right hand engine (RB211) down and diverted to Santo Domingo's Las Americas International Airport for a safe landing.

A replacement Boeing 757-200 registration YV450T was dispatched from Miami to Santo Domingo to pick up the passengers.

The airline reported the aircraft diverted to Santo Domingo as a precautionary measure. There had been no fire or fire indication for the right hand engine, the airline contradicted media reports.
