An Easyjet Airbus A319-100, registration G-EZBH performing flight U2-7945 from Amsterdam (Netherlands) to Vienna (Austria), departed Amsterdam's runway 36L and completed a seemingly uneventful flight with a safe landing on Vienna's runway 34.

A passenger booked on the return flight U2-7946 reported, that boarding for the return flight had already been completed when the captain announced the pre-flight inspection of the aircraft had found damage to the fuselage and engine (CFM56) as result of a bird strike and asked the passengers to disembark again, advising that the flight had been postponed to the next day, hotel accomodation would be provided.

A replacement Airbus A319-100 registration G-EZDW positioned to Vienna the next morning and departed Vienna as flight U2-9946 reaching Amsterdam with a delay of 14 hours.

The occurrence aircraft remained on the ground for about 16 hours, then positioned to Milan Malpensa (Italy), remained on the ground there for another 9 hours, then resumed service.
