A TAM Linhas Aereas Airbus A350-900, registration PR-XTA performing flight JJ-3409 from Manaus,AM to Sao Paulo Guarulhos,SP (Brazil), departed Manaus' runway 10 and was climbing out of Manaus when a vulture impacted the leading edge of the left hand wing of the aircraft. The crew continued the flight, however, at FL350 about 140nm south of Manuas decided to return to Manaus for a safe landing on runway 10 about 80 minutes after departure.

The flight was cancelled.

The occurrence aircraft remained on the ground for 23 hours and resumed service with the next day's flight JJ-3409.

The airline reported the aircraft sustained damage in a bird strike shortly after takeoff, but returned to base safely.
