The French BEA reported Russia's Rosaviatsia rated the occurrence a serious incident and is investigating. During the investigation it was so far established that a malfunction of the ILS system contributed to the premature descent.
Rosaviatsia reported the crew initially believed they may have caught a false glideslope signal perhaps due to a wrong QNH setting, however, after verification with ATC the crew stated their pressure setting was correct and they could not explain the descent. After checks the airport decided to take the ILS offline and released a related NOTAM.
